1. Who We Are
Aussie Tax Genius (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website at aussietaxgenius.com. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information responsibly in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

2. What Information We Collect
We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide the Service:
- Account information: your name, email address, and password when you register
- Business information: your business name, ABN, address, phone number, and email — entered by you when generating invoices
- Invoice data: line items, amounts, GST calculations, client details — entered by you when generating invoices
- Payment information: billing details processed securely by Stripe — we never see or store your full card number
- Usage data: basic analytics such as pages visited and features used, to improve the Service
We do not collect sensitive information as defined under the Privacy Act (such as health information, racial or ethnic origin, or criminal records).
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to:
- Provide and operate the invoice generation Service
- Process your subscription payments
- Send you transactional emails (account confirmation, invoice generated notifications)
- Respond to your support enquiries
- Improve the Service based on usage patterns
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party. We do not use your information for advertising purposes.
4. Automatic Data Deletion — Important
We operate a strict automatic deletion policy to minimise data retention:
- Invoice PDF files are automatically and permanently deleted from our servers within 24 hours of generation. You must download your invoice immediately after generating it.
- Invoice records (invoice number, date, totals) are retained for up to 90 days in your invoice history, then permanently deleted.
- Account data is retained for as long as your account remains active.
- Upon account deletion, all personal data and invoice records are permanently deleted within 30 days.
We are not a long-term document storage service. You are responsible for downloading and retaining your own invoices.
5. Who We Share Your Information With
We share your information only with trusted third-party service providers necessary to operate the Service:
- Stripe — payment processing (stripe.com/au/privacy)
- Anthropic — AI processing for the Pro plan AI auto-fill feature. Invoice descriptions you enter are sent to Anthropic’s API for processing. Anthropic does not retain this data beyond the API request.
- Our hosting provider — server infrastructure located in Australia
We do not share your information with any other third parties.
6. Your Rights Under Australian Privacy Law
Under the Australian Privacy Act, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct any inaccurate or outdated information
- Request deletion of your account and all associated data
- Complain about how we handle your information
To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@aussietaxgenius.com. We will respond within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
7. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification, and disclosure. These steps include:
- SSL encryption on all data transmitted to and from the Service
- Passwords stored using industry-standard hashing
- Payment data handled exclusively by Stripe — we never store card details
- Automatic deletion of invoice files within 24 hours
- Access to personal data restricted to authorised personnel only
In the event of a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected users and the OAIC as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
8. Cookies
We use essential cookies only — necessary for the Service to function (login sessions, security tokens). We do not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies. We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party tracking scripts.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. The current version is always available at aussietaxgenius.com/privacy-policy.
